Saint Mary's is an old building and it was clearly needing renovation. An examination of the church showed a series of repairs to be required and the first phase was begun in March of 2003 to repair the damage you see here.  The church had also suffered a small fire and the damafe required to be repaired.

These Repairs were conducted through the generosity of Historic Scotland assisting the people of Saint Mary's to fund the project.
